Our Catahoulas

While all of our dogs possess the work ethic we desire, not all of them are part of our breeding program. Below you will see each of our dogs listed and their accomplishments as they are all part of our family of beautiful working Catahoulas.

We are proud of the fact that our dogs represent the versatility that makes the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog the complete working dog. Our dogs work cattle, herd sheep, tree racoons, compete in the bay pen, and turn around and perform well in the Conformation ring. Many of our pups have gone onto not only performing the above skills, but also found work as Service dogs, bird dogs, and hunting dogs. To be truly happy, these dogs need a job to do and "work" can come in many forms

Coho's Athena

Athena is the Catahoula that started it all for us! We got her as a hiking companion for our son who loved to go back packing for weeks at a time. It didn't take us long to learn the true meaning "Catahoulas need a job!" Two couches later, we started taking being owned by a Catahoula more seriously. We were invited to attend a National Association of Louisiana Catahoula (NALC) event by a friend. I was instantly impressed with the drive these dogs naturally possessed. Athena was barely over a year and had never seen a coon in a tree, but as soon as she saw it, she went crazy. She was baying like I had never heard her and before long she was treeing like a pro. She has passed on her strong prey drive, and excellent temperament onto her pups.

CA GRCH Coho's Savannah Parlay-Blu

Savannah is our special girl! She earned her UKC GR CH title at only 10 months old. She loves to prance in the show ring one minute then impress us all with grit in the bay pen. This little girl can do it all, but her favorite is to get in the pen and bay those hogs! She has shown us time and again that that she is not just another pretty face. She has a no quit attitude and loves to work and when the day is done is happy to snuggle up with us on the couch and be the spoiled diva that she is. She has had two litters and so far they are exceeding our expectations for temperament and work ethic.

Cascade View's Amazing Grace

"Maizie was my first pick out of Savannah's litter. She is quickly becoming a favorite around here. She has loved "working" since she was 9 weeks old. When she was a pup, she would bay at anything, coon, pig, cows, she didn't care she was just having a blast acting like the big dogs. Now, as she reaches adulthood, she much prefers baying the hogs whether in the bay pen or B bay - that is her favorite and can't really be bothered with treeing. She has a phenomenal temperament. She loves all other dogs, big or small. She knows when to turn it on or off depending on the situation. Our grandchildren adore her and like to show her in Jr. Showmanship in both NALC/UKC. We are looking forward to seeing what her future pups will do.

Coho's Persephany

Persephany joined our family shortly after Athena did. She is my son's dog, but she is so much fun and she loves to compete that we can't help but take her with us. Sephany is my all time favorite Catahoula. She is crazy, fearless, and "talks" non stop. She has amazing stamina and i love how much is rolled up into her 38 lbs. She is blind in one eye, but you would never know it. She was hit by a car in 2014 and gave new meaning to the word Catahoula strong. This little girl had road rash all over her body, and broke/sheered off her ankle bone with stitches 6 inches down her little leg. In less than a month she was tearing through her crate to get out so she could work. Nothing keeps this girl down!

Cascade View's Angus Montana

Angus is out of Athena's first litter and is one of three pups that stayed within our family. We couldn't be more pleased with his work ethic that he has displayed so far. When he was 9 months old he won Hi point male in Treeing and he has been consistently proving himself ever since. He and Sephany won 5th in 2 dog in a bay pen competition and then he and his brother won 4th in the family run at the same competition. While many of our dogs enjoy all types of work, he accels in it all. He will be championed in both treeing and B bay very soon. We look forward to seeing how he and his brother continue to do in the bay pen competitions. His temperament and excellent disposition with kids and people along with his strong drive, is what we are expecting out of his pups. We kept two of his pups out of the litter with Delilah that he sired. Both of them at a year are showing they have a lot of their daddy in them.

CH Rising Water's Cajun Havoc

Cajun is my "heart dog", there is nothing this boy won't do for me and the feeling is mutual. He was "my" first Catahoula. I had a steep learning curve with this dog, learning how to handle a stubborn Catahoula, who clearly thought he was my boss. It took a few months, but we came to an understanding. Once that happened, there is nothing the two of us together can't accomplish. Cajun comes from strong working lines, both his parents were hog hunting dogs. So, it wasn't all that surprising when he was baying hogs and chasing them down at 12 weeks. He's a big Catahoula and not as fast as some of our dogs, but that just makes him work harder. He herds cattle, bays the hogs, and trees. Oh, he will even do Obedience competitions with me, although he enjoys the working events much more. Cage is the alpha in our kennel and when he isn't busy being the boss, or working he is a big goof who loves to play with the kids or pups.
